"THE BOOK OF MORMON” BEST MUSICAL OF THE CENTURY                       RETURNS TO ADRIENNE ARSHT CENTER

The Book of Mormon is the winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score, in addition to a Grammy and has the highest-cast album on the Billboard charts in four decades and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical.

The musical, a religious satire, tells the story of two young Mormon Missionaries sent to a  remote village in northern Uganda, where a brutal warlord is threatening the local population. Naive and optimistic, the two missionaries try to share one of the scriptures in the Book of Mormon, which only one knows very well. They have lots of trouble connecting with the natives  who are more worried about the war.

In Utah, a devout handsome, missionary to be, leads his classmates in a door-to-door attempt to convert the people to Mormonism, believing if he prays enough, he will be sent to Orlando, Florida for his two year mission, but is shocked when he and his partner are sent to Uganda as a pair.

What happens in Uganda is hysterically funny. This blockbuster show features several big songs and dance numbers while poking fun at religion, sexuality, poverty and race.

Opening at the Arsht Center November 28 thru December 3, 2017.  The Book of Mormon will conduct a pre-show  lottery making a limited number of tickets available at $25 each. Entries will be accepted at the box office 2 ½ hours before the show of each performance.

Each person will print their name and number of tickets they wish to purchase on a card provided.  Before curtain, names will be drawn at random for a limited number of tickets priced at $25. Only one entry per ticket is allowed. Winners must be present at time of drawing and show ID. Only 2 tickets per winner.

Edgardo is also Lucia’s lover, and the two have been meeting in secret, in a remote part of the castle grounds.

As act one begins, Enrico’s men are busy combing the area for a reported intruder. There is speculation that Edgardo may have been hanging around. When Enrico hears rumors that Edgardo has been seen with his sister, he says he’d rather see Lucia struck by lightning than find her in the arms of his enemy.
