MIAMI GARDENS HARD ROCK ARENA PRESENTS

COUNTRY SINGER TAYLOR SWIFT AND GUESTS

Taylor Swift was earning renown as a country music singer at the age of 16. Early hits like “Love Story,” and “You Belong To Me,” appealed to country and pop fans alike and helped fuel the multi-platinum success of her albums, including the Grammy-winning “Fearless” in 2008. Swift continued to top the charts with her 2014 studio effort, which featured the No.1 singles “Shake It Off,” and “Blank Space” and won Grammys for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Swift spent her early years on her family’s Christmas tree farm in nearby Wyoming. Her grandmother had been a professional opera singer, and Swift followed in her footsteps. By the age of 10, Swift was singing at a variety of local events, including fairs and contests. She sang “The Star- Spangled Banner” at a Philadelphia 76'rs basketball game at the age of 11, and began writing her own songs and learning guitar at the age of 12.

In late August 2017, using an image of a snake, Swift revealed that she would release her sixth album, “Reputation,” which sold 1.05 million copies in the U.S. in its first four days. Swift debuted her first single, "Look What You Made Me Do”

in a music video, when Swift played characters of all her representations. The video had more than 19 million views on You Tube within the first day. Guests include Camila Cabello and Charlie XCX.

Tickets are $69 to $499, now available for the August 18, 2018, 7 p.m. performance at the Miami Garden’s Hard Rock Arena located at 347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens. For information call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000.

STAGE DOOR THEATRE OPENS WITH “LA CAGE AUX FOLLES”                       IN THEIR NEW VENUE AT LAUDERHILL

                                PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Stage Door Theatre’s first production at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, their brand new, state of the art home, will be the multiple Tony Award-winning "LA Cage Aux Folles".  The production will open on August 31 and run through September 23, 2018. The theatre will celebrate the move with a gala party on September 1st with plans to be announced.

The musical, based on the French play by Jean Poiret, was adapted for the stage by Harvey Fierstein and Jerry Herman who provided the music and lyrics. The original production received nine Tony nominations, and won six, including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. It is the first musical to win the Tony Award or Best Revival of a musical twice.

It is set in the 70's, a time when gay people and drag queens were still fighting to come out of the shadows. This story of a young straight man forcing his parents to change themselves and their lives so drastically- or these two gay men willing to suffer that humiliation so willingly-would seem ridiculous or even downright hateful today.

The show will have gorgeous costumes, fabulous dance numbers and a top-notch cast to populate the Riviera town of St. Tropez. Cast members include Larry Buzzeo, Jamie Parnell, 2017 Carbonell Award-Winner Elijah Word, Connor Delves, Dalia S Aleman, and James Skiba, who recently starred in Victor/Victoria along with many other talented members.

La Cage Aux Folles will run from August 31, to September 24, 2018 at the Stage Door’s new location at 3800 N.W. 11th Place, Lauderhill, in the Central Broward Regional Park on the North East corner of Sunrise Boulevard and 441 (State Road 7) Tickets are $48. Group rates are available at the box office by calling 954- 344-7765 or 561-445-9244. Show times are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, matinees at 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. Visit online at www.stagedoorfl.org

CORAL GABLES ART CINEMA PRESENTS THE AWARD                               WINNING MUSICAL FILM “MY FAIR LADY

WITH REX HARRISON & AUDREY HEPBURN

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, recently on Broadway, is headed for South Florida with its magnificent score and delightful story. Based on George Bernard’s witty comedy Pygmalion, My Fair Lady tells the unlikely love story between a professor, Henry Higgins, and a cockney flower seller, Eliza Doolittle.

Professor Higgins wages a bet that he can transform Eliza into a high society lady. As Eliza becomes more refined, and less reliant upon him, Professor Higgins realizes that he can’t live without her. Meanwhile, Eliza endures speech tutoring, endless repeating phrases like “In Hertford, Hereford and Hampshire, hurricanes hardly ever happen and  " The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.”

Frustrated she dreams of different ways to get rid of Higgins. When she finally passes his test in upper class style, they both happily dance and all is well. The unforgettable score includes “I Could Have danced All Night,” “The Rain In Spain,” “ I’m Getting Married In The Morning,” “Wouldn’t It Be Lovely,” and more. Now playing only one more day, August 15, 2018. For tickets call the box office at 786-385-9689 located at 260 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables.
