DIANA ROSS FORMERLY OF THE SUPREMES TAKES

CENTER STAGE AT THE ARSHT CENTER

Diana Ross is a singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer who rose to fame as the lead singer of the vocal group The Supremes, which, during the sixties became Motown’s most successful act, and to this day the United States’ most successful vocal group, as well as one of the world’s best-selling girl groups of all time.

Ross’ success as a lead singer of The Supremes made it possible for future R & B and soul acts to find mainstream success. In The Name of Love,” “ You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” “ Love  Child,” “Someday We’ll Be Together,” and so many more.

Following her departure from The Supremes, Ross released her debut solo album, which contained the number one top 20 Pop hit “ Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and “Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand,” later releasing “Touch Me In The Morning.”

The track reached number 1 as well as her second solo hit the same year with “Lady Sings The Blues,” that went to number 1 and sold more than 300,000 copies within its first 8 days of release. In 1988, Ross was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Supremes, also receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
